- 2 Green chili
- 1 Tbsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 Tsp hing
- 1/2 Tsp red chili powder
- Oil
For garnishing
- Coriander leaves
- Lemon (Optional)
Recipe with step by step photos:
Step 1- In a mixing bowl add rava/ sooji and curd
Step 2- Make paste of ginger and green chilies
Step 3- Add the paste to rava and curd
Step 4- Add water and salt and mix well to avoid lumps. The batter should not be too thick or too liquid
Step 5- Add fruit eno/ baking soda and red chili powder and mix well. Leave the batter for 5mins
Step 6- Meanwhile boil water in a steamer. I used a deep vessel here instead of steamer. You can also use cooker, add 2 glass of water and let it boil and just remove the whistle and close the lid.
Step 7- Grease oil in your dhokla plate/ vessel
Step 7- Pour the batter in the plate
Step 8- Place the dhokla plate in the vessel and close the lid. You can also use a flat surface kadhai, just place the dhokla plate or any non-stick container and close the lid of the kadhai
Step 9- Cook for 15mins on low flame. To check whether it is properly cooked or not just insert a toothpick at the centre, if it comes out clean then dhokla is cooked.Turn off the flame and Let it rest for 5-6mins and then remove on a plate
Step 10- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, when it starts spluttering add hing, curry leaves, green chilies and red chili powder and turn off the flame after 30secs
Step 11- Pour this tempering on dhokla and cut the dhokla into pieces and garnish with coriander leaves and squeeze lemon on it
Now the Rava Dhokla is ready to be served. Enjoy your Rava Dhokla with tamarind chutney/ coconut chutney or coriander & mint chutney 🙂
Enjoy Cooking 🙂
