The options with Raw Banana are very limited for me ūüėõ as I either end up making¬† Banana Chips¬†or¬†Kele ka Pakoda.¬†Kachcha Kela/ Raw Banana is a good source of Iron and hence is good for Women.

Kachche Kele Ka Kofta/ Raw Banana Kofta is a very time consuming recipe as you need to prepare kofta and gravy separately. Hence we prepare these occasionally.

Kachche Kele Ka Kofta is a dish than can be prepared in many ways. I made Kele Ka kofta in mustard gravy which tastes like Bengali Fish Curry.
Serves 3-4
Ingredients:
For Kofta

  • 3 Raw banana/ Kachcha Kela
  • 2 Tbsp gram flour
  • 1 Tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/4 Black pepper powder
  • 2-3 Green chilies chopped
  • 1 Tsp coriander powder
  • 1 Tsp cumin seeds powder
  • Salt as required
  • Oil for deep frying

For Gravy

  • 1 Small onion finely chopped
  • 1 Small tomato finely chopped
  • 5-6 Garlic cloves
  • 2 Tbsp mustard seeds
  • 1 Tbsp coriander seeds
  • 1 Tsp cumin seeds
  • 5-6 Black pepper corns
  • 1 Tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 Tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 3 Cups of water
  • Salt as required

Recipe:
Step 1- Boil raw banana in a pressure cooker for 3 whistle. Peel and mash the bananas once cooled
Step 2- Add gram flour, ginger-garlic paste, black pepper powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, green chilies and salt to mashed bananas and mix well
Step 3- Divide the mixture in 8-9 equal balls. Heat oil in a kadhai and deep fry them till golden brown
Step 4- In a jar add finely chopped onion, tomato, garlic cloves, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, black pepper corns and grind to a smooth paste
Step 5- Heat oil in a kadhai and add bay leaf, sauté for 20secs. Now add the masala paste and fry until it starts leaving oil from sides. Then add red chili powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well
Step 6- Add 3 cups of water and let it boil for 10-12mins on medium flame. Add kofta and again let it cook for 5mins on low flame. Turn off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves

serve with rice/ Paratha or Chapati  as a side dish
