Well, I was really tired of eating bread toast, bread sandwiches or bread butter and that’s when this bread upma recipe came to my mind. It’s not like I am going to make it for the first time but the lazy me finds eating bread-butter easy rather than preparing bread upma 😬 But this time even the lazy me wanted to have bread upma😋

This recipe is really easy and quick to cook and even quick to eat😜 that you would love to try. So the next time when there’s a bread packet which is a day old and a little harder at the edges just try this recipe. You can even pack this for a lunch for your kiddo (just add extra veggies which your kiddo might not like to eat otherwise 😜)

Learn Step By Step Recipe with Pictures for Bread Upma 
Serves 4
Ingredients:

  • 8-12 bread slices
  • 1 Cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 Cup chopped tomatoes
  • 2-3 Chopped green chilies
  • 1 Tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 Tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 Tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 Tsp red chili powder
  • 1/4 Tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp butter/ cooking oil
  • Salt as required

Recipe:
Step 1- Cut the bread slices into small pieces
Step 2- Heat oil/ butter in a kadhai and let the mustard seeds and cumin seeds splutter    for few seconds and then add green chilies and chopped onions
Step 3- Fry the onions until translucent and then add chopped tomatoes and fry on high flame for 3-4mins
Step 4- Add salt, garam masala, red chili powder and turmeric powder.Mix well and again fry for 2-3mins
Step 5- Now the masala is ready. Add bread pieces
Step 6- Mix until the masala is well coated with bread pieces and then squeeze half lemon and again mix. Turn off the flame and serve

Now the bread upma is ready to serve. Garnish with some chopped coriander leave if you like and enjoy
