Not many people are fond of karela because of its bitter taste. I used to wonder why would anyone eat karela? It’s so bitter in taste. Then I realized could be because of its health benefits and it is easy to digest. I am not fond of eating karela but still, I make karela because of its health benefits. Other than karela stir-fry I love karele ka bharta, the tangy karele ki sabji which my mom cooks.
I got this karela stir-fry recipe from my mom and I have tried this 4-5 times so far and every time I loved it. 🙂

Recipe:
Step 1- Wash the karela thoroughly with running tap water. Deseed the karela and slice the karela into thin round pieces
Step 2- Heat oil in a kadhai/ pan and let the cumin seeds splutter and then add the green chilies. Add the sliced onion and saute until translucent
Step 3- Now add the karela and fry on medium flame until the slices become slightly brown. Stir in between to avoid burn
Step 4- Add the spices turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix and saute for 5-6mins on low flame. Add amchur powder and turn off the flame
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve as a side dish to roti, chapati or dal-rice. Eat healthy

Mouth watering. My favorite vegetable.
