Thai Basil Fried Rice

Whenever fried is prepared at home, we tend to eat more because fried rice is our favorite. I am sharing my another favorite to-go easy-peasy and quick recipe. This recipe definitely helps me cook the meal really fast in the busy days, actually, lazy days to be precise. 😛 And what’s the best way to use the leftover rice and a handful of veggies left in the refrigerator than cooking fried rice??? With these two things in front of me, I literally cannot think of anything better and I do not even want to think. Period.

To me, fried rice (read SPICY fried rice) is a complete meal in itself and many a time I do not need any side dish to go with it. But the husband wants some side dish most of the time and I happily cook one of these our favorite sides- Chilli Chicken, Paneer Stir Fry, Chilli Paneer, Kung Pao Chicken, Fiery Chilli Chicken Dry, Chicken Manchurian, Veg Manchurian

Thai Cuisines are full of aromatic flavors and include a lot of veggies, which is what makes it more delicious. I start eating Thai Food after I moved to the USA and I have loved the taste since then. There’s a Thai restaurant where we live and they serve delicious Thai food. Whenever I crave for Thai food I torture the husband to take me to that particular restaurant or else I am not going to eat Thai food anywhere else. 😛 Poor soul! Taste and the freshness of the food really matter to me. 🙂

This is not a regular or our typical fried rice, it’s more delicious, more flavorful, and very aromatic. This recipe does not claim to be 100% authentic Thai Basil Fried Rice recipe so you may find a little variation in the recipe. Thai Basil Fried rice is a staple at every Thai restaurant and is most ordered dishes amongst all. With this easy recipe, your weekday meal comes together within 15-20mins and this is better than any take-out.

We got a basil plant 2weeks ago from Costco and I have already used it while making Thai Green Curry With Tofu. I am telling you, there is something about fresh leaves, the curry was so aromatic. Fresh basil does add an authentic flavor to the dish. Even my hands smell of basil after chopping the basil leaves. 😀

Just a suggestion, use a day old rice preferably to get the perfect and not mushy-mushy fried rice. just in case, you forgot to cook rice a day before then, cook the rice and spread it on a plate and cool it down completely before using it. Make sure there is no moisture left if the cooked rice otherwise, the fried will be sticky and mushy. I cooked the rice in the morning and spread it on a plate for 1hr to cool it down, the fried rice came out perfect!

I fried the veggies separately and then I add them at the end. This not only helps to sustain the color of the veggies but they remain crunchy too. Though it is not necessary if you do not wish to increase your work, you can fry the veggies and then add the rice, sauces, and condiments, and cook everything together. The veggies were really crunchy even after an hour of cooking and the result was beautiful too. ❤
