Hello there! How are you fellas? Happy Navratri, Guys! It’s Durga Puja going on here and this city, Jamshedpur or Tatanagar, is all lighten up.
The city looks so BEAUTIFUL now! I am busy here in Pandaal Hopping and eating..eating..and eating. It’s so much fun. And, not to forget, the Bhog we get here is to-die-for. Stay tuned for the pictures of Pandaal hopping and celebration of Durga Puja in my city. It’s coming soon. Till then enjoy the Durga Puja and do let me know how you guys celebrated the Durga Puja.
Are you by any chance hosting a house party or having a get-together anytime soon? And, looking for a snack that will look interesting and is already everyone’s favorite? Heard of Vada-Pav? Of course, you must have and you SHOULD! Vada-Pav is every foodie’s love.
It was so much fun preparing these Mini Aloo Vadas and much more fun in eating them. 😀
I generally make Aloo Vada that is deep fried. However, this time I thought of trying Aloo Vada in appe pan. Cooked to the perfection with less oil. Enjoy the less oily Aloo Vada with Pav and chutney.
I had a batch of Whole Wheat Mini Buns which I made earlier. And, nothing could have been a better option than Mini Aloo Vadas to those cute little buns. See the picture below. Isn’t it look cute???
Preparing Aloo Vada in appe pan follows the same process as regular. Prepare the stuffing, prepare the batter, dip and cook. The cooking differs from deep frying. Here, we cook with minimal oil in appe pan. The guilt free snack? Maybe not, but indeed it’s less guilty, as the buns are also made with 100% whole wheat flour. Serve it with chutney and tea.
Serve this to your kids and they will enjoy eating this mini vada-pavs. You can also serve them as a party snack and enjoy.

Recipe:
Step 1- In a mixing bowl, take all the potato filling ingredients and mix well. Divide the mixture into small 16-18 parts and roll them into mini balls
Step 2- In another bowl, take all the batter ingredients and add water as required. Make a flowing yet thick consistency batter for the vadas
Step 3- Heat an appe pan and grease with oil. Dip a ball into the batter and fill the holes with the balls. Cover the pan with the lid and let it cook for 8-10mins
Step 4- Now, using a appe stick or fork, flip the vadas and again cook the vadas for another 8-10mins with the lid covered
Transfer to a plate and follow the same for the rest of the vadas
Assembling Vada Pav
Make a slit between the Mini Buns or cut them into halves. Spread dry garlic chuntey, green chutney, and tamarind chutney inside one side of the vada.
Place the vada and cover with the other half. Serve with fried green chilies and enjoy. 🙂
These mini vada paav are so cute and tempting. The paniyaram pan is indeed a boon, even koftas turn out crisp and well cooked in it!!
