It won’t be wrong to say Tea is a National beverage of India. This is the most common welcoming drink in almost every household to serve to your friends, guests, relatives. Tea is such a beautiful companion when you are having a bad day- have a nice strong cup of tea, when you are having a good day- share a cup of tea with your loved ones, when unexpected or expected guests arrived, when you are sick- nothing feels better than a strong cup of Masala tea, to shoo away the bad mood, to overcome that groggy mornings…the list is endless for Indians. I can go on and on. 😛

There is no thumb rule to make Masala Tea Powder. Masala Chai can be made in so many flavors to suit’s ones liking. A handful of green cardamoms, a few cloves, a spoon full of black peppercorns and a bit of this and etc, can kick-start your dull mornings. Every household has its own version of Masala Tea and they all taste good in their own way.

These spices have a lot of benefits and you can have this cup of Masala Chai during Monsoon or Winters to keep your body warm and prevents cold, though we Indians are addicted to it and can have it in any season. Holding a warm cup of tea in cold winter days is pure BLISS! 😀 It’s been a week I have not seen the sun and today it’s raining which made me prepare this Masala Tea Powder.

Like I always say, nothing beats the taste of freshly grounded homemade masala. Ditch the store-bought Tea Masala and make your own at home with your choice of spices and adjust the measurement of spices according to your likings.

Serves- ½ Cup masala (loosely packed)

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup cinnamon stick
  • 2 Tbsp green cardamom
  • 2 Tsp Cloves
  •  Tsp black peppercorns
  • 2 Tsp dry ginger powder
  • 1 Tsp nutmeg powder
  • 1 Tsp dried and crushed Tulsi leaves

Recipe:

Step 1- Take the whole spices (cinnamon stick, green cardamoms, cloves, and black peppercorns) in a grinder jar and grind to a coarse or smooth powder

Step 2- Transfer the coarse mixture to a bowl. Add dried and crushed Tulsi leaves, dry ginger powder and nutmeg powder to the mixture and using a spoon combine well. Store this masala powder in an airtight jar up to 45days to 2months

To make masala tea ( 2 cups of tea)

Step 1- Take 1 cup water in a saucepan and add ¼tsp of chai masala powder and 2 ½ tsp of tea leaves. Let it simmer on medium-low flame for 4-5mins or until the water reduces to half

Step 2- Add 1 ½ cup milk and simmer it for 5-6mins or more. Tea tastes best when simmered on low flame 😉

Step 3- Add sugar as required and bring it to boil on high flame for 2-3mins. Turn off the flame. Strain and serve hot

Aam Panna Recipe | Aam Ka Panna | Tangy Mango Drink

Aam Panna is perfect for summer drinks as it is known for its heat resistance properties. You can make this sweet and tangy Aam Panna using raw mango and a handful of ingredients which easily available in every household. Ditch those artificial market drinks and instead make this healthy drink to tickle your taste buds and to rejuvenate your body and mind. 😉

In North India, the temperature rises to 45-50º Celcius in May-July which is too hot and harmful too. Hence many people consume this drink to stay safe from scorching heat waves of the summer season. Other than keeping safe from the heat waves this drink has other benefits too. The only reason I like summers is that it brings varieties of Mangoes and other seasonal fruits. Although the temperature here is not that high, though I won’t mind enjoying a glass of this Aam Panna.

You can make this Aam Panna concentrate and refrigerate it for longer use. Just add 3-4tbsp of this concentrate to a glass of water and enjoy any time. Instead of using sugar you can use jaggery which makes it absolutely healthy. I have used brown sugar here and it gives a slightly darker shade to my Aam Panna. If you want Aam Panna to be tangier then add lemon juice. Serve this cooling drink to your family and guests this summer and enjoy the AAM-mazing refreshing drink. 😉

Serves 2 Glass

Ingredients:

  • 1 Large raw mango
  • 4 Tbsp sugar, or as required
  • 1 Tbsp black salt, or adjust as required
  • 1 Tbsp crushed cumin seeds, roasted
  • 1 Tsp crushed black pepper powder
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves

Recipe:

Step 1- Boil 4cups of water in a pan. Wash and clean the mango and chop into 3-4pieces. Add the chopped mangoes to the boiling water and boil for 35-40mins on medium flame or until the mango is soft and tender

Step 2-  Transfer the mango pieces to a plate and using a spoon scoop out the pulp nicely. Discard the peels and let the pulp cool down

Step 3- Add mango pulp, sugar, black salt, crushed cumin seeds, crushed black pepper powder and 2cups of water to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and adjust water as required. Top with fresh mint leaves, ice cubes, and lemon juice and serve

Thandai Recipe | Festival Drink

Thandai is a traditional drink which is mainly served on the occasion of Holi and also during Shivratri with a hint of Bhaang in it. 😉 This drink has many benefits as it is prepared with dry nuts, whole spices, saffron, and milk. A perfect refreshing drink for summers.

There is readymade Thandai powder available in the market but to avoid any preservatives and artificial colors or flavors I made at home with all the ingredients available easily at home. Make this delicious Thandai and serve your family, friends, and guests this Holi. Thandai is best served chilled so make sure you refrigerate it for at least 4-5hrs before serving.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Cups whole milk (1cup = 235ml)
  • ½ Cup sugar or as required
  • 1 Cup homemade Thandai masala
  • 1 Tsp nutmeg powder

Recipe:

Step 1- Bring milk to boil in a pan. Add nutmeg, cinnamon powder, thandai masala, and sugar to the milk. Let it boil for 12-15mins on low flame

Step 2- Turn off the flame and allow it to cool down completely. Starin the milk in a container and refrigerate for 4-5hrs before serving. You can refrigerate without straining and just before serving strain it and serve

Thandai Masala | Homemade Thandai Masala

Thandai is a traditional drink which is mainly served on the occasion of Holi and also during Shivratri with a hint of Bhaang in it. 😉 This drink has many benefits as it is prepared with dry nuts, whole spices, saffron, and milk. A ready to use Thandai masala at home which is far superior and flavorful than the store bought ones.

Only 2days are left for Holi and I am still struggling with what sweets and snacks to prepare for the occasion. 😦 Yesterday, I was searching for the Thandai masala in the store but no luck. So I thought of giving it a try at home and sharing with you all this coolest drink recipe. 🙂 And yayyy…I am at least ready with one drink to serve on Holi. 😀 This recipe is so simple and ready in no time. Make Thandai or Thandai kulfi or Thandai Cake or Thandai bread using this masala and enjoy the burst of flavors in your mouth. Store this in an airtight jar and use within 35-40days.

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • ¼ Cup almonds
  • ¼ Cup cashew nuts
  • ¼ Cup pistachio
  • 2 Tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1 Tbsp fennel seeds
  • 1 Tbsp green cardamoms
  • 1 Tsp black peppercorns
  • Few strands of saffron
  • 1 Tsp of nutmeg powder*
  • 1 Tsp cinnamon powder*

*you can skip adding nutmeg and cinnamon powder while storing and add while boiling the milk. Whichever way you prefer

Recipe:

Step 1- Dry roast everything except poppy seeds and saffron. Once the nuts start releasing the aroma add the poppy seeds. Roast for a minute or two and turn off the flame. Let them cool down completely

Step 2- Take a grinder jar, add all the roasted ingredients to the jar and grind to a fine powder. Sieve and grind the coarse powder again. Transfer to an airtight jar, add saffron strands, nutmeg powder, and cinnamon powder. Mix it nicely and store it

Lemon And Mint Detox Water | Lemon And Mint Infused Water

It’s been a delicious foodWeek. 😀 After having those delicious cupcakes, chocolate cake, and yummy Thanksgiving meal the only thing my body needed was…cleanse. How do you all start your day? I mean the first thing you do in the morning?Ahhh…apart from using the restroom. 😀 I am sure everyone begins their day with a glass of water. Right? If no, then you must do this. It naturally helps your body to stay hydrated and boosts your metabolism. This is one of the best ways to take care of your body. So, from now onwards the first thing you must do in the morning is to consume a glass of water on an empty stomach.

Lemon water is ideal for consumption every morning on an empty stomach. Not only lemon flushes out the toxins from your system and helps in weight loss but it is also good for your glowing skin. 😉 Start your morning with a glass of this lemon and mint detox water to flush out the toxins from your body. Make this a habit to drink lemon water daily in the morning to stay young and healthy. And to give it a fresh and cooling effect add few leaves of fresh mint.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Litre water
  • 2 Lemons, thinly sliced
  • ½ Cup mint leaves

Recipe:

Take all the ingredients in a pitcher and fill it with water. Leave overnight to allow flavors to infuse. Refrigerate if you want chilled water in the morning. Drink a glass of this infused water in the morning. Sip it throughout the day to stay hydrated and fresh.

Strawberry Lemon Detox | Strawberry Lemon Drink

Diwali is ONLY 10days away. Excited…? Yeah! I am sure everybody is busy in Diwali cleaning and preparing sweets and snacks for their family, friends, relatives, and guests. How about we prepare our body too for Diwali? Let’s detox the toxins and shed some weight before we just dig into Diwali sweets and snacks. 😀  Let’s cleanse our body too, this Diwali.

The best thing about detox drinks are they are unbelievably easy to prepare, just a few ingredients in water and let it sit in the refrigerator for an hour, and you’re good to go. Just sip the drink whole day and remove the toxins from your body. And who doesn’t love flawless, glowing and healthy skin? We all do…Right? 😀 These detox drinks act as a  natural cleanser too, so once a week make detox water and drink during the whole day.

As the strawberries are in season and it’s VERY very tough not to pick the basket of fresh strawberries from the store. 😀 These little beauties are filled with vitamins, nutrients, the best antioxidant, and work as a natural cleanser. AND guess what…? They help in losing weight too. 😉 There are endless ways to use strawberries and if you are trying to shed some extra pound or looking for natural antioxidants then try this strawberry lemon drink. This strawberry drink is something you can enjoy without comprising the taste and what’s better than munching on fresh strawberries that drops in your glass while pouring this drink. 😉

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 1 Lemon, sliced
  • Few mint leaves (Optional)
  • 2 Litre water

Recipe:

Take all the ingredients in a jar and fill with water. Keep in fridge for 2hrs and then drink the whole day to detox your body. This strawberry lemon infused water will help you feel refreshed and it will naturally cleanse your body.

While serving put few ice-cubes and enjoy the healthy drink. Cut down on other sugar-based drinks and replace those with this healthy detox water.

Masala Chai | Indian Masala Chai | Spiced Tea

Tea is something which we Indians cannot resist. This is something which is enjoyed by millions of Indians. I am sure many of us are addicted to it (don’t get addicted to it 😛 ). Our day can’t start without a cup of tea. Even though I am not a very big fan of tea still I can’t say no to tea 😛 Our solution to every problem- have a cup of tea first. 😀 To start your day- ‘Have a cup of tea’, having a bad day- ‘Have a cup of tea and let go of everything’, Have a cup of Tea to start your work, break from work ‘have a cup of tea’…We need Tea for EVERY SITUATION, EVERY TIME. 😛

A cup of tea with your family or friends and trail of stories 😀 Sounds perfect. “Garma-Garam Masala Chai”Always a hit among my dad and my dad-in-law 😀 This recipe is specially dedicated to both of them and all the chai lovers.

Masala Tea is a combination of spices and added to the regular milk tea. Although there are many versions of mixes available but trust me this masala tea is something which takes the regular milk to next great level. 😀

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoon loose tea powder, or as required
  • 2 tablespoon sugar, or as required
  • 3 green cardamom
  • 2 Cloves
  • 1-inch cinnamon stick
  • 1-inch ginger slice
