Whole Wheat Cinnamon Swirl Bread | Whole Wheat Bread

I always prefer eating homemade food and I truly believe homemade is healthy. Though there are days when you literally cannot prepare homemade food or you just want to spend some time outside the kitchen and enjoy your time and spend quality time with family without being worried about the meal to serve them, which is absolutely OK! I have always wanted to bake my own whole wheat bread at home. I was always been a bit skeptical when it comes to baking whole wheat flour bread at home because whole wheat bread is the difficult one to bake with the perfect texture, taste, and fluffy. But, until and unless you try you won’t get the results…Isn’ it? So, I gave it a try and the result is, a freshly baked loaf with perfect texture and taste.


This whole wheat cinnamon swirl bread makes your home smell of a bakery. ❤ Having a  fresh loaf of whole wheat cinnamon swirl bread that too homemade makes my morning yummy. Take a slice of this bread, spread some butter and enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee.

Using a good quality yeast can really make your task easy. I have used Fleischmann’s Rapid Rise Instant yeast. If you are a beginner and try your hands on whole wheat bread, I insist you buy this instant yeast and try this bread loaf recipe at home. You can skip adding cinnamon if you want a plain whole wheat bread.


Serves 1 Bread Loaf


  • 2 Cup whole wheat flour
  • ½ Cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tsp salt
  • 1 Packet Fleischmann’s rapid rise instant yeast
  • 1 Cup milk (at room temperature)
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon + 2 Tbsp brown sugar (or more) + 1 Tsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil, for brushing the dough

Step 1- Take whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast in a large mixing bowl. Using a fork mix them well. Add the vinegar to milk, stir and immediately pour in the flour mixture. Add olive oil, vinegar and ¼ cup of water or as required

Step 2- Bring everything to a sticky dough and dust with some flour and knead for 8-10mins. Keep kneading until you get a smooth and elastic dough. Grease the bowl and cover the dough. Let it rest for 10mins

Step 3- In a small bowl, take sugar, ground cinnamon, and all-purpose flour, Mix well and keep aside for filling

Step 4- The dough will rise a bit. Knead the dough again for 3-4mins on a dusted board or kitchen platform. Using the rolling pin roll the dough into a thick and large rectangle


Step 5- Brush olive oil and spread the cinnamon-sugar mixture all over the rolled dough. You can adjust the quantity of sugar to increase the sweetness level of the bread. Now roll the dough towards the other end and pinch the ends to seal

Step 6- Grease a baking loaf pan and place the dough and brush some oil or butter. Let the dough rest for 1hour or more in a warm place to rise until double

Step 7- Preheat oven to 375ºF. Place the bread loaf pan in the heated oven and bake for 35-40mins or until the top is golden brown. Switch off the oven and let the pan sit in the oven for another 2-3mins. Remove the bread loaf on a wire rack and let it cool down completely

All you need is 8-10mins and few spices…and your achari masala is ready.


Serves 2 Medium Thin Crust Pizza


For Pizza Dough

  • ¾ Cup whole wheat flour +¼ cup all-purpose flour (or ½ cup all-purpose flour + ½ cup whole-wheat flour)
  • 1 Tsp pizza crust yeast
  • ½ Cup warm water (or as required)
  • 1 ½ Tsp oil
  • 1 Tsp sugar
  • ¼ Tsp salt

For Marination

  •  1 Cup Paneer, cut into bite-size or as desired
  • 1 Cup capsicum, cube or Julians (green, red yellow)
  • 3 Tbsp Greek yogurt
  • 1 ½ Tbsp achari masala
  • 1 Tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 Tsp dried Kasuri methi
  • 1 Tsp coriander powder
  • 1 Tsp red chili powder
  • ½ Tsp amchur powder
  • ¼ Tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt as required
  • 1 Tsp mustard oil

For Achari Masala

  • 3-4 Whole dry red chilies
  • 1 Tbsp fennel seeds
  • 1 Tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1 Tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 Tsp black caraway seeds

Pizza Topping Ingredients

  • Pizza sauce
  • Grated Mozzarella cheese
  • Chili flakes
  • Pizza seasoning
  • Few onion slices

Step 1- Heat a griddle and dry roast all the spices mentioned under achari masala. When spices turn aromatic turn off the flame and grind them to a smooth powder


Step 2- In a mixing bowl take all the spices mentioned under marination ingredients, mustard oil, required salt and mix with greek yogurt. Add the cubed paneer and veggies. Mix everything


Step 3- Add achari masala and gently mix everything. Marinate and leave overnight or  4-6hours for the better result or at least leave for a 2hours minimum


Step 4- In a large mixing bowl take warm water, pizza crust yeast, sugar, salt, and oil.Dissolve and let it sit for 2mins. Add the flours to the bowl and using a spatula or spoon mix everything. Knead the dough for 4-5mins and cover the bowl. Leave the dough for 30-40mins. The dough will rise

You can add half of the all-purpose flour and half of the whole wheat flour or use only whole wheat flour or only all-purpose flour to bake this pizza



Step 5- Pre-heat oven at 475ºF. Dust a rolling board and divide the dough into 2 equal parts. Take one portion and roll into a thin crust. Grease and dust with flour a pizza baking tray and place the pizza base


Step 6- Spread pizza sauce all over the base using a spoon. Spread grated cheese and top with the marinated achari paneer and some onion slices



Step 7- Sprinkle chilli flakes and pizza seasoning as desired and place the tray in the heated oven. Bake the pizza for 12-15mins or until the crust is brown and crispy. Remove and serve

Who doesn’t love Pizza? Isn’t that we all have our own favorite kind of Pizza. Pizzas are delicious! The freshly baked pizza with lots of cheese, toppings, and Italian seasoning…smells heavenly. But the amount of guilt it brings with just a slice is too much. 😀 We eat Pizza once or twice a month so you can see how much guilt I am into. 😛 So finally after so many days of eating Pizza outside, I tried my hands on a healthy pizza crust made with whole wheat.


I have used pizza crust yeast which requires no proofing. You can instantly bake the pizza after kneading the dough, though I recommend leaving the dough for 20-30mins meanwhile, gather all the sauce and prepare the toppings. With this easy-peasy recipe, you can make pizza any day and any time.


For pizza toppings, I have used all color capsicum, pickled jalapenos, and paneer.   Now your Pizza your favorite topping and enjoy pizza without any guilt. 😀

Serves 3 Thin crust pizza (6 slices each)


  • 2 ¼ Cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 Envelope pizza crust yeast
  • 2/3 Cup warm water (or as required for kneading the dough)
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ Tsp sugar
  • ¼ Tsp salt

For Pizza Topping (For 2 Thin Crust Pizza)

  • 6-8 Tbsp Pizza sauce
  • 1 cup grated Mozzarella cheese
  • ½ Cup mixed capsicum, chopped into cubes on thinly sliced (green, yellow, red)
  • 10-12 pickled jalapeno peppers pieces
  • 2 Tbsp paneer, cut into small bite-size pieces
  • 2 Tbsp pizza seasoning
  • 2 Tsp chili flakes

Step 1- In a bowl take warm water, pizza crust yeast, sugar, salt, and olive oil. Let the mixture get frothy and then add this to the whole wheat flour and knead to a smooth dough. Add more water if required. The dough will be little sticky but it’s fine


Step 2- Knead the dough for a good 4-5mins. Grease a bowl and leave the dough for 20-30mins. The dough will be doubled now. Meanwhile, gather all the pizza topping ingredients


Step 3- Pre-heat oven at 475ºF for 15mins.

Divide the dough into 3 equal parts and roll one into a medium size pizza (12-14inches circle). Gently press the dough using your fingertips. Place 2tbsp of pizza sauce and spread evenly


Step 4- Grease a pizza pan and dust with flour. Using the help of the pizza tray place the pizza dough on the pizza pan and spread grated cheese on the dough. Add your favorite toppings. Sprinkle pizza seasoning and chili flakes



Step 5- Place the pizza pan in the heated oven and bake for 16mins or until the crust is brown and crisp. Remove from the oven. Slice and serve
