When someone says you don’t eat cake in the morning. Then tell them this is COFFEE cake and you eat it in the morning with Coffee. It’s breakfast! 😀 There is absolutely nothing better than waking up in the winter morning and enjoying a slice of Cake with a hot and creamy cup of coffee.
Crumb on the top…..because crumb part is the best! Hint of coffee and cinnamon powder makes this cake more delicious.

For Crumb Topping
- 4 Tbsp butter (slightly softened)
- 1/2 Cup sugar
- 1 Tsp Cinnamon
- 1 Tsp coffee
- 1/2 Tsp nutmeg powder
- 1 1/2 Cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 Cup wheat flour
- 2 Tsp baking powder
- 1 Tbsp choco chips (optional)
- 5 Tbsp butter (softened)
- 3/4 Cup Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1/2 Cup milk (room temperature)
- 1 Tsp vanilla essence
Step 1- In a large bowl take all purpose flour, wheat flour, baking powder and choco chips. Sieve well
Step 2- In another bowl cream together the sugar and butter and then add egg, milk and vanilla essence and beat them well again
Step 3- Start adding the liquid mixture to flour in part. Make sure there are no lumps formed and mix gently to combine. The batter will be thicker. Do not add water
Grease a baking pan and pour the batter. Spread evenly
Step 4- For crumb topping, In a bowl take sugar, coffee powder, cinnamon powder and nutmeg powder and mix well. Add butter and mix with a fork until the ingredients are well combined
Step 5- Spread the crumb topping on the cake batter and press lightly using a spatula.
Preheat oven at 350ºF for 10mins and then bake the cake for 25-30mins. To check insert a toothpick and if it comes out clean remove the pan from over. If not, bake for few mins more
Let the cake cools down a little and then remove on a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy this Crumb cake with your morning/ evening coffee.
